Field Notes
Photo taken over 2012 Labor Day Weekend. This is an irrigated corn field. Not enough kernels on it so the ear worms just ate the cob. I just completed taking photos of the drought impact for NWS-Lincoln so thought I'd send a few of them to you guys. All photos were taken in Northeastern Lawrence County, IL. Please keep in mind that not all crops in this area were this bad. Depending on variety, time planted, type of soil, irrigation, etc, some crops are better and some are worse. Harvest has begun here and I've heard many reports of 5 - 10 bushels per acre corn. About the best I've heard so far is a report of approx 200 acres in Central Crawford County that averaged 120 bushels per acre. #CoCoRaHSSep12
