Photo taken over 2012 Labor Day Weekend. The South end of Lake Sun and Sand. This is an old gravel pit near the Wabash River. Water level is effected by both rains and the level of water in the river. I just completed taking photos of the drought impact for NWS-Lincoln so thought I'd send a few of them to you guys. All photos were taken in Northeastern Lawrence County, IL. Please keep in mind that not all crops in this area were this bad. Depending on variety, time planted, type of soil, irrigation, etc, some crops are better and some are worse. Harvest has begun here and I've heard many reports of 5 - 10 bushels per acre corn. About the best I've heard so far is a report of approx 200 acres in Central Crawford County that averaged 120 bushels per acre.
